Henry's First Fourth of July

What a fun fourth we had this year! Pre-baby us probably would have spent the day relaxing with some beer, barbecuing with friends, and heading downtown to see some fireworks. The new we-have-a-baby-now us spent the day sleeping in, lounging around the house, eating at our favorite restaurant, and showing Henry around the city. We didn't even see a single firework this year (gasp!) because H goes to bed around eight and it doesn't even get dark here until nine. Instead of sitting outside somewhere, hoping for the biggest explosions, we sat on the couch cringing with each bang! hoping that it wouldn't wake Henry. I thought I'd miss the fireworks but really didn't at all. I loved just hanging out with my little family, spending time with my boys. It's funny how much changes when you have a baby!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday as well. Here's to a short four day work week!

This is wonderful. I thought I'd miss the fireworks too and was amazed by how very little I minded after all. It will be fun again when our babes are older and the wonder and awe sets in their face.

I was asleep before dark (as was Lovie of course) so no fireworks here either. And it's been SO hot we didn't even leave the house. Just played, napped, ate, played ate, nap, repeat! :D

momma zen: that's what i figured too, i can't wait to see his face when he gets old enough to understand what's going on!

shawntae: thanks! loud noises never used to bother henry but about three weeks ago he decided he does not like them at all. that was one of our reasons for staying home too!

sarah: so much changes! when i was still pregnant, i thought a lot of the change would be a hard adjustment but then you meet your baby and a lot of things that used to matter so much just don't anymore.

holly and mariel: thanks! i found that at a consignment shop for three dollars. best find ever!

lovie's mom: sounds like our fourth! it was so hot here too, our time outside was very limited. glad you all hada great fourth!

Ha ha! This sounds exactly like our 4th. Except our neighbors gave us a couple of sparklers. :) And, we still had some beer and wine.

Darn loud fireworks! Totally different this year. Every bang I would stop and wait for Ruari to wake. She didn't :)
