So my armpit basically belongs to Henry now. He's always rubbing his hand in it for comfort and as weird as it is (it's weird) I kind of like it. I'm positive it's connected to our breastfeeding days and I'm missing those a ton lately. When I'm feeding him a bottle before bed he tugs at my sweater until I take it off and then he rests his hand there and his eyes roll back.
My mom thinks this is really bizarre but says that he could be all hand-down-my-shirt, needing my boob for security and that would be even more awkward so I'm lucky. Awww, love you mom!

It's not weird at all! Seriously, how sweet and cute that he still finds comfort in your arms without you needing to ween him from breast feeding again? You win!
When I was a nanny the baby I cared for would touch/pet my collar bone when I fed him. He would do it to his mom too. It was comforting to him, and as long as he wasn't pinching or scratching (which he occasionally did) I was happy! Petting=nice, scratching=not so nice!
MuffinLovesBiscuit
1) i have almost that same necklace!
2) amazingly cute dress
3) i hate you for your skinny arms
4) i think what henry is doing is super cute, and it would break my little heart, too.. make me miss breastfeeding. I already do sometimes. But I have to understand that he's a big boy. That's what big boys sometimes have to do.
Whatever works best for you is what is right, i say!
mrs. biscuit sometimes he does pinch and i startle him with a "ouch! NO!" and then he's all afraid to put his hand there again. so now i just ignore the painful scratches because i don't want him to stop needing me!
Renee Kristine: THANKS! yeah, when we stopped nursing it was nice to have that freedom but i really miss it sometimes. i just can't think about it too much or i get all weepy.
oh, i'm the same way! for me, i only breastfed for 6 months... oliver self weaned. but i knew i also wasn't producing enough for him.... which is a whole other sad feeling.
but oliver got his first (and second) tooth 2 days after we stopped bfing
ps-that's me on twitter talking to you! haha @reneekristine
renee: wait a minute? what do you mean you talking to me on twitter? btw i just realized that we aren't twitter friends until just now. following you now. FIXED.
I could add a whole bunch of stuff to this conversation but I won't because it would distract me from this awesome photo you took. And you know I'm all about the photos. ;)
thanks heidi!!!
adorable outfit!!
that is seriously the sweetest thing ever. there is no sweeter connection than the baby-mommy connection- and the funny little things that babies do while nursing and after are just the sweetest! aww!
That's too cute! I found your blog a few weeks ago but this is my first time commenting! Newest follower!!
allie-- What a clever idea to startle him, too bad it makes him stop petting! :( Boo! Silly little muffins and their weird but lovey snuggly silliness!
I've been commenting on posts you make... without being friends with someone, does it just look like i'm crazily talking to myself? haha
This is so sweet--and your mom is hilarious. And I need your dress.
mcmel: true! i love that he's developed such a strange (but sweet) habit! breaks my heart to think that someday he won't need my armpit for comfort any more ;)
tales of a young mamma: thanks so much for commenting! i'm really excited to check out your blog now!
spazmaticme: we're doing whole milk. i didn't even know there was such thing as "toddler formula"? hen still drinks his from a bottle, he's slowly getting the hang of the sippy but i'm not pushing it for the nighttime feedings. i'll tweet you this response too...
mrs. biscuit: yeah, it would work perfect if he didn't feel like he was doing something bad!
renee kristine: oh no! haha, i appreciate all the comments i get so much it's unreal. i try to reply by stopping by each blog and leaving a response there but often run out of time and i can't. i need to get better at responding though!
paige: wait. you don't already own this dress? HAHA.
i love it! i think it's really sweet...
just like Jess I think its extremely sweet.
i think that is totally precious! aww.
oh goodness, this post just brought me to tears. i miss those days when malcolm was so sweet and little. they really do grow up too fast. i love your blog so much. <3
he's smart, what a good spot. ;)
great pic
I totally use to rub my mama's armpits! It was soothing, i guess.
hahaha. :)
Whatever floats his boat.
Not weird at all. E does this with me - not always the armpit though that too sometimes but mostly it's down my shirt but not on the boobs. It's just skin contact he wants. Depending on how we're laying or how I'm holding him it can be simply under my collar along my shoulder or neck...but he HAS to have that skin contact to go to sleep now. I am sure it's a connection to breastfeeding too because he always fell asleep to BF.
Seriously laughing so hard at your moms comment haha thats great!!!!
it's sweet.
You blog is looking wonderful I just love you header it may be the best i've seen!
I voted for you x
I love that dress...co cute.
Eva sometimes tries to stick her hands down my shirt when she is really upset. Right after she tries, she seems to get confused as to why she wanted to. Most of the time she pets the side of my neck. I love that. I would gladly give over my arm pit too though. :)
jess and ashley: i agree :) it feels so good knowing that i can comfort him so much!
lydia: me too!
lauren: thank you so much. lately henry looks so grown up and it's sad to think that soon he won't need me to comfort him to sleep anymore :(
claudia: thank you!
amadeus: did you really? that's so adorable! do you remember doing it and the feeling or did she just tell you about it? i'd love it if hen remembered feeling so safe...
momma zen: yeah, henry always fell asleep to BF too. love our babies!
the peanut gallery: (i should know your name by now...sheesh- give me a while...) my mom cracks me up too! she has five kids so she's pretty much experienced it all.
kriznizzel: awww thanks! i owe it all to jess from IROCKSOWHAT she did my banner/button and helped me with some html junk. she's so talented!
Nessa: thanks! petting the side of you neck sounds adorable. so sweet :)
I LOVE this. What a sweet post. And you're outfit is gorgeous.
