Hating Goodbyes...

megan's visit May 10 144 by you.

Saying goodbye to my sister tomorrow is going to be very hard. Sharing our new life with her has been so much fun and I have really enjoyed watching Henry study her every move. Megan experienced so many Henry milestones this week and he's even gotten better at smiling and talking since she's been around.

Since Henry has been born we've gotten to say "Hello" to many wonderful people, but with those hellos come the dreaded goodbyes. I hate, hate, hate goodbyes. Dropping family off at the airport is one of my least favorite things ever.

Wow. We're really going to miss having you here Meggie Moo. What a memorable week it has been.

First Mother's Day = Success!

Mother's Day was so wonderful. How neat is it that my little sister got to be here for my very first Mother's Day? G bought Henry this adorable little onesie that says, "I Love Mommy" and he wore it all day. He also found me a dress, which turned out to be more of a jumpsuit and we all spent a good amount of time laughing about it. After lunch, we headed over to the flea market and daydreamed about owning a puppy. Afterward we walked the beach and then went out for a delicious pizza dinner.

I'm boring myself with this post, so I'll just shut up and post some pictures from our day....

G bought a new hat, a bandana, sunglasses for H, and a matching pair for himself. Awww, look at my boys!

Baby Fail.

megan's visit May 10 111 by you.

Saturday, In the Park....

We had so much fun this weekend! We've been extremely busy showing Megan all around Savannah and introducing Henry to many new firsts. On Saturday we walked around the farmer's market and Forsyth Park and then took some sandwiches down to the river. There were a bunch of street performers out and we listened to Amazing Grace and watched the barges float in and out of the port. Unfortunately we didn't have a third person to take our picture (G was teaching a bike class all day) so we don't have any pictures of the three of us together. Maybe if you paste the pictures together and then cross your eyes, the images will blend and we'll be standing next to each other :)

It was so hot we dipped Henry's feet in the fountain and splashed some water on his face. Did he like it?

I'm Promising You Pictures...

megan's visit May 10 013 by you.

This is one Georgia baby who hates getting wet!

We've had an extremely busy and incredibly fun weekend. Tons of pictures to come very soon, I promise. For now it's sleep, sleep, sleep for the four of us. We're exhausted!

Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

Today is my first Mother's Day and I can't help but wonder how you must have felt on your first Mother's Day, 24 years ago. Becoming a mom has changed me in ways I never knew were possible. The minute I looked into Henry's eyes I was a new person and on that day I discovered an unconditional love and patience that I never knew I possessed. What I hadn't realized until that day was that I was capable of loving in such a huge way the entire time, because I learned this from you.

Over the years you have shown me so much patience and been so understanding. Sure we've had our disagreements and shared some pretty epic arguments, but I have always felt like I could turn to you in times of need. You've taught me that to love a child is one of the most difficult, yet rewarding and beautiful things you will ever do. You also taught me that love conquers all, even if sometimes it takes every ounce of strength inside of you to find it.

When we saw Henry together on the first ultrasound, I watched you cry over the beauty of that cloudy squirming image. I realized just how much love you had already for this little baby you hadn't even met. If that's not pure love then someone please tell me what is.

Thank you for teaching me how to love. Thank you for showing me how to be a good mother. Thank you for raising me with such morals and understanding so that the day I had a baby of my own, I would have confidence in knowing that I can do this. Although the journey ahead of me may be rough at times, all I need is love and a lot of patience and everything will turn out fine. I know this because of you.

Happy Mother's Day, I love you to the moon and back.

Allie

Two Beautiful Finds.

Happy Saturday everybody! We're headed downtown to the farmer's market and then we're going to get some ice cream and vegan sandwiches for a picnic in the park. Before we go, I wanted to share with you two of the most beautiful reads, both have been on my mind for weeks. Jeez, It's really about time I share these with you.

Beauty #1: It's not too often that I read something that makes me cry, but this article in the Seattle Times (home state SHOUT OUT! Haaaaaaay!) really had me going. It is such a beautiful story and (almost) restores my faith in humanity. Thanks Amy for posting this :)

Beauty #2: If you haven't already, please hop over to Jamie's blog and check out her Karma & Kindness Week posts. Be sure to read each one. These are so wonderful that weeks later I am still thinking about them and trying to find ways to apply each to my everyday life.

Beauty #3: Oooookay, so I said I only had two beautiful things to share. But seriously, what kind of crazy would I be if I didn't post a picture of H under a title like this??

Yay for sunny Savannah days (and awesome sunglasses, size: tiny!)

Wishing you all an awesome weekend!!
