Updates
I promise I will write more as soon as I can catch my breath. So busy these days, in a way it's really nice because it keeps my mind off of my belly and gets me excited for having my teaching degree someday. Here are some of the things we've been up to lately. I'll write more on each later. Have a great week everybody!
1. I'm teaching pre-teen bible school (I know. ALLIE?! Teaching BIBLE SCHOOL?! So weird.)
2. We recently went down to Florida to visit with G's mom and I'm realizing that it is only getting harder to say goodbye to family these days.
3. I have my sixteenth week doctor's appointment on Wednesday, in three weeks we will be able to find out the sex of that little thing swimming inside me.
4. Looking into getting Bunz de-clawed so that she doesn't kill the baby (no, seriously. She will.)
5. G is finishing up a huge project at work and has been putting in crazy hours. Like 7:40 am until 6:30 pm hours.
6. He's been riding his bike to work and back everyday. In the 96 degree weather.
7. I'm still not "showing" but feel like I've gained about twenty pounds.
8. Cleaned up our back yard and organized the whole kitchen. Now it looks awesome out here.
9. Finding bigger and bigger bugs. In our house.
Bunz was laying like this the other day, when I came into our bedroom and turned on the light. Such a strange cat.

Hot Wings?
So lately I've been having this weird thing for hot wings. Not that I'm actually eating them- if I indulged myself every time the idea of hot wings has popped in my head lately I would be (a) poor and (b) really, really fat and greasy. It's ridiculous, I've spent time Googling, "Hot wings, Savannah GA" and even poured through recipes hoping to find something reasonably priced and satisfying. What I don't understand is how restaurants can charge $8.00 for crappy, deep fried chicken smothered in vinegar and peppers. But then again, I guess that's how most restaurant menu items are.
I think tomorrow I might just have to suck it up and get some hot wings. Then maybe this awful craving will pass....

Our New Swing!
Today we put up our new hammock swing out back. And by we, I mean G...who did an excellent job- it was pretty difficult getting the rope around the tree that covers our yard. Now if we can only get rid of all the hungry mosquitoes buzzing around, we'll have a pretty awesome new place to read some books this summer.

Adjusting
I really haven't posted much of anything lately, mostly because I have been so busy with work (yay!) and so tired with baby. Who knew being pregnant made you sooooo incredibly tired? Everything I do feels like a dream and my energy level is so low that it's hard for me to stay up past ten at night! I can slowly feel myself gaining more energy as I get further along, but I still feel as though I could easily sleep a whole day away.
I've been working at a preschool, teaching a class of six, five boys and one girl. It's been a lot of fun and a great learning experience. The energy five boys can create is amazing and sometimes overwhelming. It's definitely been a great lesson in patience. One of my students is obsessed with hurling objects at his classmates...anything he can get his hands on: forks, toys, chairs, tables. The amount of crying and "NO!"s I hear in one day is extraordinary and has inspired me to read more about classroom management and discipline.
On Monday I start a new nanny job, three days a week. I will still be working at the daycare on the other two days but will be in the one and two year old room because physically and stress-wise it will be better for me. I am constantly guarding my stomach from the punches and kicks from my three year olds and will very soon not be able to keep them away with just a hand held to my belly.
Speaking of bellies, I have been noticing lately that I am beginning to show. Before these last few weeks, I could make my stomach pretty flat by holding it in. Now, when I suck in there is a slight bump that just doesn't disappear...amazing! I am thirteen weeks along and the baby is about three inches.
We had a fun time with my mom and little sister Karli last week. We visited the beach a lot, checked out the historical sites, and even made it down to Florida for a really fun Fourth of July. It was harder than ever to say goodbye to them at the airport because I really need them here right now. Having my mom around created so much peace within me. I almost got panicky as I watched them head into the airport, because I really realized for the first time that I have to do this all alone. I have to have a baby without my mom or family around me for support and comfort. This isn't the way it was supposed to be!

And Baby Makes Three.
So I can finally share the big news that I had mentioned earlier in my blog!!
I had my first Savannah doctor's appointment yesterday morning and our suspicions have been confirmed...Garrison and I are having a BABY!! I had known for some time, but was waiting until twelve weeks to let our friends know because if anything is to go wrong, it usually does within those first three months. I went into the doctor, pretty sure I was ten weeks pregnant and they placed me at eleven. During the ultrasound however, the doctor measured the fetus and said that I was actually already twelve weeks! What a relief!
Seeing the baby for the first time was a feeling that is always going to be hard to beat. It was like suddenly I realized that there is a little human wriggling around inside my belly. He/she was kicking and turning around in there and it practically made my heart melt. I was crying and my mom was teary eyed and my little sister was staring at me and the screen like, "What the heck?"
Our due date is January 12, 2010. I am so glad that we have so much time to get used to the idea because, while we are both super ecstatic...the whole thing is really rather scary.

So Happy.
Just found out that I (finally) have a job. I will be nannying again, this time for a beautiful family twenty minutes away. I have been looking for and stressing out over finding a job for so long now and it just feels good to finally relax. I am actually very excited that this family found me and can't wait to get things started with them in July. Things are really looking up!
It's been incredibly hot here lately, today it is going to be 98 degrees with the heat index reaching 111. Luckily I can just stay in today and hopefully get my computer fixed (something I have been talking about doing for so long now).
G and I are both super excited that this week is over and we get a weekend together. My mom and sister Karli are flying in this Thursday so this weekend we'll most likely be cleaning and getting things ready for their twelve day stay with us. I'd like to go to the farmer's market downtown as well.

Lightning Cats.
Last night we had the most beautiful thunderstorm I have ever seen. The lightning was non-stop for about 45 minutes with mild thunder. I love feeling so safe and comfortable inside our new home together.
Thunder and lightning always makes cat pretty crazy and it's fun to watch her run her energy off in our new large sized apartment. Lately she's been hitting this bottle cap around the house, hockey style.

Sunny Savannah.
It's 90 degrees and humid like crazy outside right now. You'd think it would be cooler in our house, but since I'm trying to save money I haven't turned on the AC and so it is 85 in here. I keep sticking my head in the freezer and drinking cold water with lots of lemons. It might be helping a little.
Yesterday G and I walked to the park and played tennis. We're getting much better and can actually hit the ball back and forth without flinging it too far off the court. You should really see the sweat rolling off of us after just ahalf an hour of tennis here.
I'm thinking this summer is going to be one of the hottest I've experienced in a long, long time. You can all send me Gatorade when you get the chance.
