She loves him. She carries him around, perfectly propped on her little outstretched hip and bounces him up and down, up and down, up and down when he starts to cry. She talks to him with a gentle and patient voice and holds his tiny finger as they sit next to each other in the backseat. He sees her and starts twisting out of my arms, little hands reaching for his tiniest aunt.
It's like these two have known each other forever. This is love.

ReplyDeleteyou are so lucky. i have a 13 year old daughter, and a 2.5 year old son. since they are so far apart in age, they seem to butt heads a lot. i wish that my daughter was more patient and loving with him, like your sister is with your son. sigh. this post definitely brought a tear to my eye. so sweet.
