Dear Henry (video)

My Dear Henry,

What are you thinking about when you smile in your sleep? It's awesome to think that you could be dreaming about something I do that makes you laugh. That means that I am one of the funniest people you know (forget the fact that you only know like, six people...) In fact, I can only think of seven other things that might make you chuckle in your sleep, so one out of eight isn't too bad!

Other funny things you could be dreaming about: Yo Gabba Gabba, a bunch of little dogs licking your face, finding a teething cookie, crawling away from me with your diaper off, finding your boy parts, your dad, and that annoying cute ABC Elmo we pass at Target.

Pretty tough competition, but hey. I'll take it!

Love the funniest person EVER (until you're 13...),
Mom

henry is going to space!

Well, his picture is at least. On November 1st, Henry's picture will be flown up to space on one of the few remaining NASA space shuttle missions. I found this website through StumbleUpon.com (a breastfeeding mom's bff- but that's a whole other post...) and the nerdy Allie is super stoked about it. They even pasted his photo inside a little space shuttle image and when the astronaunts return we can print off a certificate. Hella weird stuff for the baby book! Woot! Woot!

Want to send yourself up too? No, I'm the only geek who thinks this rules? Oh. Well just in case you change your mind, here's the site:

My Excuses...

I haven't blogged in a few days because Henry Bear is sick and that = no free time for me because I'm always wiping his nose, or holding him on my hip while he bites my shoulder, or counting out teething tablets without trying to touch them (srsly??), or rocking him through the entire night. Plus, he's like permanently attached to my boobs as they are still his main source of comfort. Blahhhhh, poor baby beans!

On top of lil' sicky here, I am working this entire weekend and Garrison is conveniently out of town (jk, garrison!) and that part = four days/nights straight with three kids under the age of four. Blahhhhh again, poor mama beans!

And now I will boo-hoo baby some more because hey, it's my blog and I can do that... you know? But seriously, feel free to call the waaaaambulance at anytime.

Yesterday I broke my toe. Stubbed it so freaking hard that now I can't move it and it's bright purple and red. I've tied it to the other toe so that hopefully it will heal itself straight. According to a Google search, this is what you've gotta do. And Google is like, always 100% acurate with their medical advice right? I mean, who needs doctors these days?

One of the smoke detectors in the house randomly started beeping every 20-60 minutes at three in the morning. By the time I got out of bed to see which one was going off it would stop. There is no set time between beeps, which honestly creeps me the h out and so I didn't sleep again last night. Oh, and just a second ago I took the battery out and it's still beeping. Isn't that in a horror movie somewhere? Um, just saying....

Waaaaahh. Waaaaahh. Waaaaahh.

Ok. I'll shut up now.

Here's my latest favorite picture of Henry, because I know that's what you all really come here for anyway. Don't feel bad, I totally understand.

DIY: Baby Safe Finger Paints!

We made awesome finger paints today, perfect for Henry's love of mashing gooey messes between his fingers and exploring everything with his mouth. He could seriously eat handfuls of this stuff and I'm positive it would not harm him. Also, it's surprisingly easy to clean up. Win!

* Baby Safe Finger Paint *

1/4 cup cornstarch
2 cups water
food coloring

Mix the cornstarch and water in a small saucepan and slowly bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once mixture is thickened and clear, remove from stove and let cool. Pour into separate containers and add desired amount of food coloring (warning: too much will stain hands and not enough will not stick to the paper...)

* This batch turned out a little chunkier than usual, which actually ended up being a good thing because Henry could pick it up easier. Next time I think I'll add a bit more water though...

Have fun!

It's a Mama and Henry day...

This morning Garrison invited us to this event he was volunteering for but we accidentally showed up a twenty minutes late. By the time we got there, everyone was already sitting down in organized groups ready to go. When we walked in, an entire gym full of people turned and looked at as awkwardly standing there all like, "Oh hey guys...I'm a half hour late and my baby is climbing up my dress and pulling at my boobs and tearing out my headband hair."

Hello, embarrassing. Nice to meet you.

So H man and I left and went to some garage sales instead.

I found some awesome fabrics and some adorable shoes for Henry. A man thought he was so cute that he gave him a purple pirate flag for free. Go Hen! Next time can you flirt a little more and get me something rad too?

Now we're home, snuggled up in bed together. Henry is napping and I'm looking forward to a whole day with my little guy.

Weekends. are. awesome. Huh?

NEW Buttons (or: allie finally gets her act together!)

I know the last button for It's a Wonderful Life is a weird shape and I swear I have been at least thinking about fixing that for some time now. Oddly enough playing with my baby and doing things (like non internet-y things) seemed like way more fun than messing with html and that annoying "Adobe wants to install..." Picnik pop-up (I'm not the only one who gets that...right??)

WELL. I finally got around to making a few new buttons, so please feel free to replace that wacky rectangle with one of these brighter, more manageable ones (the code to copy is on the right side bar and the striped legs picture isn't as fuzzy in a smaller size)...

On a related note, I also haven't updated our "Blogs we Love" page in forever. I'll be adding more buttons soon. Wow, oh wow am I lazy!

Dear Henry

Dear Henry,

Thanks to your sudden decision to only sleep in two hour increments, last night I was able to watch Son of Rambo AND Beetlejuice at three in the morning. During one of your seven (seven!!) late night nursings I beat my previous Bejeweled score, caught up on everyone's Facebook status, snuck Garrison's trail mix, and memorized the number of blind shingles in your room (192. 192. 192. 192.)

While I really do enjoy movies, making mental lists, cell phone games, lalala...Will you puh-lease let me sleep tonight? Thanks, that'd be awesome.

Xoxo,
Mom.

Ps. I posted these pictures of you because I can totally hear my own mom saying, "Thank God you're cute...!"
