First Vlog

Trying something new this week. I was surprisingly nervous about doing this but I'm giving it a go because I think it's fun to be able to hear a blogger's voice through video rather than the usual writing. Also, being so far away from family and friends I figure it'd be a great way for them to see how we're doing! This vlog is part of the Vlogging Vednesdays project over at Adeline's Daddy. I make Henry do some cute tricks at the end, you know...to balance out my total awkwardness. Here goes nothing....

You know how sometimes you dress in separate rooms and then come out wearing almost the same outfit as your spouse? Or you all meet up for lunch and realize that your clothes combined are red, white, and blue? USA! This has been happening a lot to us lately although now we have a third little person to drag into these funny little whoops. I really love it!

how motherhood has changed me

Two days ago I was on a run when I tripped over my shoelace and broke my fall with nothing but my knee and elbow. I can't even remember the last time I skinned my knee. It was totally embarrassing as I sat on the street and listened a handful of bros describe my fall from their porch.

Before becoming a mom I would have limped home and made the whole thing into a bigger deal than it really was. Boohoohoo. Now runs are my only "me time" and dammit! I was not about to cut out early to return to a messy house and a screaming Henry. SO, I finished my run and then went home and made a huge deal over my new cut. Boohoohoo.

Also, I fashioned a darn good, makeshift band-aid out of a nursing pad and surgical tape last night. Woot woot! (Isn't motherhood exciting...)

This weekend is going to be fun, but we'd have to win the lottery and a trip home to beat last weekend. The sun was out and we were productive, I feel like we did so much in just two days. I love taking Henry out, I seriously eat up all of the googly eyes and head rubs he receives from grandparents and moms to be. OH! and he has started waving at everyone and expects a wave in return. If he doesn't get it he'll desperately flail his arm around until they notice.

I found a new dress that I really love at F21 and Henry wore his new shirt (our favorite!) for the first time. Our friend Heidi made it for him, it's a screen printed photo of her dog that she took & edited. Have you met Heidi yet? You should because she rules.

On Friday we took Henry to a BBQ restaurant we love and stayed out late listening to the live band.

On Saturday we walked to our favorite bakery for coffee and cupcakes and then stopped by a thrift store, art gallery, and new antique shop.

On Sunday Garrison went on a bike ride and Henry and I played on the porch, drawing with chalk (he mostly eats it...we're working on it) and playing this really fun game where he throws crap off of the porch and says, "Uh-oh, Nooo Nooo!" until I pick it all up.

When Garrison got back from his ride we took Hen to the water park a few blocks from our house and let him go crazy. Kid loves water, although it takes him a while to get comfortable with it. He's walking so well now, I can just let him go and follow him around with a juice cup and handful of toys he's dropped all over the park like a cool mom.

I used to get so sad thinking that Henry would grow up and no longer be my cuddly newborn. Those are totally legit feelings but these days I'm realizing that I never should have been so worried. The older he gets the more fun we have! He's our little buddy, willing to do everything with us and we're just having a blast.

Best Weekend

We had an awesome two days off. It's been super nice out (like 90 degrees + humid) and we took full advantage of it. I'm talking water parks, lunch on the porch, dinners with live music, open windows, and Blue Moons before five advantage of it. We even made a new friend and brought back the Wham! Pandora channel. It was just one of those weekends (more pictures to come!)

henry meets the big kids

Henry Gets What Henry Wants.

I didn't think preferences started at such an early age but apparently they do? Example: Henry refuses to wear these Sesame Street socks matching. He threw us a nasty FIT when I tried putting two Elmo socks on his feet and only calmed down after we had Cookie on his right foot and Elmo on his left. Every day he wants these socks but this is the only way he'll wear them.
